INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR TOLERANCE – In 1996, United Nations introduced The International Day for Tolerance with the motive to get public and educational institutions to see the importance of tolerance in Society. In 1995, UNESCO created a Declaration for Tolerance on November 16, so as to honour the Declaration, every year, on November 16, International Day for Tolerance is observed. It is a global observation day. It encourages and spread awareness about tolerance and its importance in every fields like science, culture, arts and even between individuals. On this day, people tend to learn something new about other religion or country. Various live discussions are organised which focusses on topics like oppression, racism, injustice and other negative aspects of society. Many educational places organises events and programs to promote awareness.

 

The general theme for this day is ” Tolerance is respect, acceptance and appreciation of the rich diversity of our world’s cultures, our forms of expression and ways of being human. ”
