02 Soldier and 01 Militant Killed in Shopian Encounter:
Feb19, 2022, Shopian, South Kashmir: 02 soldiers and 01 militant killed in the Shopian
Encounter on 19 February. As per the Jammu and Kashmir Police's input, a joint cordon and
search operation, by a team CRPF and J&K Police have been launched earlier today in the
Charboug Area, Zainapora, Shopian of South Kashmir. Indiscriminate firing started towards the
force from the other side, issuing a gunfight from both the side injuring a soldier from 1RR who
later succumbed to his injury. With the proceeding of the gunfight an unidentified militant got
eliminated and another soldier sacrificed his life. The soldiers are identified as Santosh Yadav
and Sepoy Chavan Romit Tanaji of 1 Rashtriya Rifles (RR). The slained militant is yet to be
identified.
