The United Nations General Assembly marked 19 November as the World Toilet Day to promote and spread awareness of the necessity of safe toilet. It’s is a mandatory prerequisite to have safe and clean toilets. Without toilets , human waste can contaminate the food and environment or the practise of open defecation causes diarrheal diseases. The main motive for the onset of this day is to achieve Sustainable Development Goal 6 : water and sanitation for all by 2030.

Every year around 1000 children die due to diarrhea. Various events , programmes take place to raise awareness amon people who do not have access to toilets or the urgent need to end the sanitation crisis. In 2020, activities are organised to mark the day to focus on the theme ” Sustainable sanitation and climatic change “.
