BLOOD DONOR DAY :
World Blood Donor Day is celebrated on the 14 June every year to raise awareness among the people to save the lives of the people by donating blood . Each year there is a drastic increase in donating blood and plasma, Henceforth, the reason behind to be called World Blood Donor Day.
World Blood Donor Day (WBDD). The event serves as it raises awareness among people of the need for safe
blood and blood products .In 2004 World Blood Donor Day was first known by the WHO. In the 58th World Health Assembly, 2005 it was declared as an annual global event to raise awareness about blood donation, Also Birthday of Karl Landsteiner
is celebrated as World Blood Donor day as he was Austrian American immunologist, pathologist and a Winner of Nobel Prize winner in 1930 because of his development and discovery of ABO blood group system and modern blood transfusion.

This 2022 year, the World Blood Donor Day theme is stressing the need to increase the number of donors for the currently world. And the theme is, “Donating blood is an act of solidarity. Join the effort and save lives. benefit from donated blood in terms of treatment and support.

The World Health Organization gives some points tha why this day was created to ..
1 . Global awareness of the need for safe blood and blood products for transfusion;
2.Highlight the critical contribution voluntary, unpaid blood donors make to national health systems;
3 . National blood transfusion services, blood donor organizations and other nongovernmental organizations in strengthening and expanding their voluntary blood donor programmes by reinforcing national and local campaigns.
The World Health organization have given some of the specific objectives of this year’s campaign.
Thank blood donors in the world and create wider public awareness of the need for regular, unpaid blood donation;
Highlight the need for committed, year-round blood donation, to maintain adequate supplies and achieve universal and timely access to safe blood transfusion;
Recognize and promote the values of voluntary unpaid blood donation in enhancing community solidarity and social cohesion;

Raise awareness of the need for increased investment from governments to build a sustainable and resilient national blood system and increase collection from voluntary non-remunerated blood donors
Who can donate blood?

Make sure that your are eligible to donate blood, you only need to dedicate about an hour of your day .
1. Donor should be in the age group of 18 to 65 years.
2.Donor Should not be less than 45 Kilograms.
3. Pulse donor shall be normal Blood Pressure
4.Immunization & Vaccination
5. Haemoglobin level
